“My parents can’t afford to send me to drama classes.”
“I know I could never go to summer sleepaway camp.”
“I want to do extracurricular projects like my friends.”
“I wish I could go away during the holidays.”
“Are there other kids like me?”
Countless children and young people in Hackney and Haringey face:
Poverty
Lack of opportunity
Inequality
Small living space
In 2008, an organisation was set up to help them.
To give them opportunities.
To teach them skills.
To let them feel ‘like everyone else’.
Our mission:
To ease disadvantage by helping children and young people achieve their potential, despite the challenges they face. To provide disadvantaged minors with tools, life skills and opportunities, empowering them to become confident, competent and resilient adults.
About us:
Highlights
was founded in 2007 by an ambitious group of community activists who thought they could use their passion for equal opportunity to effect change.

They did
What started out as a small weekly youth club now offers multiple activities a month, with children and young people clamouring to join so they can be involved in the exciting activities.
These young people are facing socio-economic hardship, and their home lives are often stressful. They are resentful of their friends who can afford to attend extracurricular classes, knowing they could never be like them…
Until we give them the chance.
- The opportunity to foster talent that would otherwise remain untapped.
- The benefit of connecting with friends in similar circumstances.
- The ability to participate in fun activities and wellness retreats.

We give them the bright moments that make their childhood and impact their future.
“It’s the highlight of my week,”
says Lila, who takes part in our weekly youth club and has acted in the show several times.
Lila and her friends are only part of the 240 users who have benefitted from our varied services this year.
